Woman Starts Bar Fight by Reenacting Goodfellas’ “Funny Like a Clown” Scene
Miriam Wexler, 19, a self proclaimed socially awkward teen, was invited to go out with her older sister at the request of their mother. Wexler, who’s Friday nights usually consist of watching 20/20 with her parents, started cracking a couple of one-liner jokes she had been working on. “The response was great,” an onlooker said. When given the compliment of “funny,” Wexler thought it was an appropriate time to quote her favorite movie, Goodfellas.
“Hasn’t everyone seen it? You can’t say you like movies if you haven’t seen it,” Wexler told us through Skype.
“She got really scary. I mean imagine this nerdy girl, clearly not wanted at the club, suddenly acting like Joe Pesci, and not dropping character. No one wanted to be around that,” Miriam’s sister Brit told us from their family’s living room in White Plains.
In the police report, multiple patrons asked Miriam to stop. They told her repeatedly they didn’t “find her funny like a clown.” She refused to stop the impersonation. “She was committed for sure,” a patron reported. Thankfully the fight was only verbal. The police chalked it up to a brief misunderstanding and asked Brit Wexler to escort Miriam home.
“Miriam has a big heart. She’s just not made for the club. Also, why are you Skyping with her? She’s upstairs you know.”
