I’m Here For You, I Can Give You a Number to a Hotline.
This past week my Facebook newsfeed was anxiety inducing. Tuesday with the passing of Kate Spade and Friday with the passing of Anthony Bourdain. Both icons in their own right, their deaths were obviously very triggering. I read plenty of statuses about personal experiences of depression, past suicide ideation and I want to say I’m there for anyone who wants to talk. Do you have a pen and paper? Here is the suicide prevention hotline: 1–800–273-TALK.
No one should have to write out their feelings on a public forum. Speak to someone privately. I’m totally here for you. I can speak to you for a few minutes, but I recommend this great meditation app. You have to catch your breath before you speak, right?
I’m here to be a friend, but let me refer you to a professional, even if we have known each other for years. Some might say opening up to a friend is a great addition to speaking to a professional, but no one should have to tell me too much about their feelings. My life is going pretty great right now — so let me just give you this website to find in network therapists: PsychologyToday.com
I swear, you’re not putting anything on me right now. I just care a lot and I have this information handy. I copied and pasted it from another friend’s tweet. That friend has a lot of experience with helping friends too. I see them tweet out hotline numbers and resources all the time.
